I am coming to realize that this part of our experience, the “getting” there is just as important as once we get there. God has things he wants to teach us now, places he wants to use us now, people he would have us love on and minister to…NOW! How much time do we waste waiting for life to happen…..when I get to college, when I graduate, when I get married, when we have kids, when we get out of debt, when the kids are older, when we retire, when we get to Swaziland… I don’t want to miss out on today by being obsessed with getting to “tomorrow”.
So, the challenge is to figure out what He wants me to learn in this “in between time”.
One major lesson is, of course, FAITH! It will be an absolute work of God if we are able to raise the financial support necessary to leave for Swaziland in June. Yet, that is the date that we all feel He has given us.
We got to meet with Scott and Marcia Borg and Kriek and Jumbo Gerber this week to do a little planning and it is very obvious that we are needed in Swaziland ASAP. The staff there needs help. AIM is now caring for almost 3000 orphans at 23 different carepoints in Swaziland. The responsibilities of these AIM staff are staggering. There is so much to do and not enough people to physically get it all done. One thing that concerns us is that those that are there now will get burned out. That is a very real concern for missionaries everywhere, but we want to try to ease the burden for some of them and make it easier to accomplish what God wants to be done in Swaziland.
To get there in June we need to have our support raised by mid-April! This will give us time to reserve our flight and prepare to leave the country! Man, mid-April is very, very close. Can we do this? No. Can God do it? I believe He can.
